What about technical support and maintenance?

All purchases include a 12 month maintenance period – including all maintenance (bug fixes) and all new releases. This ensures that you can have complete confidence in your investment.

Support, via email and the online Customer Support Centre, is also included for the first 12 months.

Enhanced support packages are available, please Contact Us if you wish to discuss this.

Maintenance and support contracts after your initial 12 month period can also be purchased (usually at 20% of your original purchase price for a further period of 12 months).

Do I need 'Admin' rights to install the products

The WinR3 setup installation programs will check for 'Admin' rights before installing. If your user id does not have Admin rights then WinR3 products can not be installed.

Administration rights are required because some standard Microsoft components (which are not present on all systems) are provided in the installation kit. These need to be copied to the Windows system directory and registered. If your user does not have Admin rights this registration would fail.

Why do I get password errors when trying to connect to SAP?

For versions of SAP after SAP NetWeaver 6.40 (not including 6.40), the password hash algorithm has been changed from MD5 to SHA-1, resulting in more secure passwords. It also allows for password lengths of up to 40 characters and mixed case – previous versions allowed only 8 characters and were not case sensitive.

Depending upon your installation your remote access components may not be able to logon resulting in errors. If you encounter problems logging your WinR3 product into SAP, especially with password related errors, you may need to enter your password in UPPERCASE – see OSS note 846706. If you still have problems its is suggested that you reset your password to 8 characters or less and all uppercase.

Please note that implementation of the OSS notes should solve this problem, allowing you to use any password format.

For more information on long passwords see SAP's online help and also OSS notes 792850 and 815740.

What SAP authorisations do I need for the products to run?

In general, for any WinR3 product, you need the authorisations to run any transaction that you wish to record or run/replay.

You've upgraded SAP GUI to 6.10 (or above) and are having problems

SAP GUI 6.10 and above are required by SAP Enterprise/4.7 installations.

If you are using SAP R/3 Enterprise/4.7 then this note applies to you.

When these versions of SAP GUI are installed the Windows registry entry for wdtfuncs.ocx is over-written. Therefore, if you have an existing installation of a WinR3 product you will need to download and run the following program which will re-register this component.

Note that a new installation of a WinR3 product will automatically register wdtfuncs.ocx and this additional program is not needed.

This fix is only needed if you have been previously running WinR3 with an older version of SAP GUI and then you upgrade to the newer version.
